Tuition

30 minute lessons: $76/month

45 minute lessons: $111/month

The flat monthly fee applies to all months except June and July and August, which will be charged per lesson:

30 minute lesson: $20

45 minute lesson: $30

*Payment is due at the first lesson of each month.

*This tuition covers weekly lessons, monthly group lessons, recitals, pianists, venue rental, etc. I have worked in holidays/school vacations to this price so no refund will be given for those dates. If something comes up and I need to miss lessons, I will either provide a make up lesson day or I will reduce the price of lessons for that month.

Website/ Email : ctviolin.wix.com/home

*Check the website, it has all the information you need including: my contact information, a list of everyone’s lesson times, the calendar, and also links to helpful/interesting websites.

*Parents should also check email weekly. This is how I will communicate with everyone. When I send out an email I am assuming that everyone has read it and knows the information.

Lessons

* I require 24 hours notice if you will be missing a lesson, otherwise you will still be charged for the lesson.

*If you know you will be unable to attend a lesson, it is up to you to either find someone to switch lesson times with or work out a make-up lesson time with me.

*If you call me last minute, you will still be charged for that lesson. Of course, there are some circumstances that I will make exceptions for.

*For each lesson, the student is expected to bring all music that we are working on.

*I expect parents of students under age 11 to attend all lessons.

*Please arrive on time for lessons. If you are ten minutes late, then you lose that ten minutes, I will not go into the next student's lesson time to give you a full lesson.

Practicing

*Students are expected to practice five days a week (not including lesson days).

*If you want your child to really succeed at the violin, you need to practice with them. Do not expect them to practice by themselves. When you practice with them it helps the child to know that practicing is important and will also help them to be focused during practice sessions.

*Your child will learn to love their practice time with you if you are consistent and positive when you practice. But understand that it is a rare child who loves to practice and work all the time. Be patient and persistent and avoid negative attitudes, pushing ahead in the literature and comparisons to other children.

*Lesson notes should be read through during each practice session. Reading through the notes will refresh your memory of what happened during the lesson and will also help you to practice with direction.

*Listening is a very important part of your weekly practice. Suzuki CD’s should be listened to every day, supplemented with other good music. Please ask me if you would like suggestions of other recordings for you and your child to listen to.

*Review pieces will be assigned each week. Do not skip this part of practicing. Review is essential to build memory and reinforce technical skills. Review pieces can also be much more enjoyable for the child than practicing new pieces that they might be struggling with.

* I have been practicing  violin for over 25 years and helping children practice/learn for over 15 years. I know that every single child learns in a different way--- if your practice sessions are not going well, don't give up! And don't assume that music or violin isn't for you. Ask me for practice help! I love to find new ways for you and your child to practice effectively and without tears or yelling (we all know it happens ha ha)

Group Lessons

*Group lessons will be held once a month and every student is expected to attend.

*During group lessons we will review Suzuki pieces, work on music theory, learn about composers, play music games and students will also be provided with opportunities to perform for one another outside of formal recitals.

*Group lessons are also a good chance for students to interact with each other and make new friends.

Recitals

*Solo recitals will be held twice a year and are mandatory for all students. Do not treat recitals as an "optional" activity. Performing in front of an audience is a great way to reach goals and mark your progress throughout the year. If your student is feeling anxiety about performing, please talk to me. I would love to help them deal with any fears they might have.

*Dates for recitals are given well in advance, so you will be able to work them into your calendars.

*Every Christmas I team up with another teacher and her students and we do a combined Group Christmas Concert. We also perform at Festival of Trees. This has been such a fun performing tradition!
